The Nominations and Elections committee for the Society for Military Psychology is extending the nominations period until the end of this business week for the 2018 elections for (a) President-Elect; (b) APA Council Representative and (c) Member-at-Large.
The President-Elect Chairs the Nominations and Elections Committee and oversees the nomination and election process for elected positions within the Executive Committee; and fulfills the duties of the President in the case of absence, death, incapacity, or resignation. The term of the President-Elect shall be one year, after which he/she shall serve one year as President and one year as immediate Past President.
Members-at-Large shall represent constituents within the division; act as spokespersons on behalf of these constituents; and perform such duties as may properly be assigned them by the President with the approval of the Executive Committee of the Division; and serve as a member of the Executive Committee for a period of three years.
The APA DIV 19 Council Representative serves on the APA Council of Representatives. The APA Council of Representatives is the legislative body of APA and has full power and authority over the affairs and funds of the association within the limitations set by the certificate of incorporation and the Bylaws, including the power to review, upon its own initiative, the actions of any board, committee, division or affiliated organization for a period of three years. This is a three year term as an APA Council Representative.
In addition to the duties briefly described above, persons elected to these positions are expected to attend Executive Committee meetings. The Executive Committee meets each year during the APA Annual Convention. A second Executive Committee meeting is typically held in early March; this mid-year meeting has usually been held in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Interested individuals should send nominations to the Chair of the Nominations and Elections Committee, Stephen Bowles, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org soonest, with the extended final deadline being 2 March 2018 at 5:00 PM ET. Self-nominations are welcome!
