While it may seem like the deadline of May 1st is way off in the future, I am asking that you put pen to paper and nominate someone (self-nominations are allowed) for one of DIV19's awards.
  • Arthur W. Melton Early Achievement Award http://www.apadivisions.org/division-19/awards/melton.aspx This award is given to recognize early career achievements in military psychology, normally within five to ten years of entry into the field.
  • Charles S. Gersoni Military Psychology Award http://www.apadivisions.org/division-19/awards/gersoni.aspx  This award is for outstanding contributions to military psychology in categories including research, service, product development, and administration.
  • Distinguished Mentor Award http://www.apadivisions.org/division-19/awards/distinguished-mentor.aspx This award is intended to recognize exceptional efforts of individuals who invest in the development of psychologists and other professionals interested in the psychological study of the military through service, education, research, teaching and training.
  • John C. Flanagan Lifetime Achievement Award http://www.apadivisions.org/division-19/awards/flanagan.aspx  This award recognizes career-long achievements in military psychology.
  • Julius E. Uhlaner Award http://www.apadivisions.org/division-19/awards/uhlaner.aspx This award recognizes outstanding contributions in research on military selection and recruitment.
  • Robert M. Yerkes Award http://www.apadivisions.org/division-19/awards/yerkes.aspx This award recognizes significant contributions to military psychology by a non-psychologist.
  • Robert S. Nichols Award http://www.apadivisions.org/division-19/awards/nichols.aspx The Robert S. Nichols recognizes excellence in service by uniformed clinical psychologists to military personnel and their families.

I have received several nominations, but know that there are many more deserving individuals among your  friends, colleagues and peers.  I understand that there are many competing demands in your daily lives, but please take a few moments to recognize some of the incredible work and noted careers that define our membership!  Nominations can be sent directly to me at salsterhead@yahoo.com , and should include a summary of the individual's achievements, to include the rationale supporting their selection, and a copy of their CV.  Too easy.

With thanks,
Sally C. Harvey, PhD
Division 19 Past President
