SOCIETY FOR MILITARY PSYCHOLOGY
Presidential Citation in honor of
Marty F. Wiskoff, PhD
For his leadership in advancing the field of military psychology, advocacy for research in support of the military, mentorship, and fostering of international relationships.
Dr. Marty F. Wiskoff has championed the relationship between the APA Division 19 and International Military Testing Association (IMTA) since 1978. He has been a member of Division 19 since 1963. During this time he has served as Secretary, Treasurer, Member-at-Large, and President for the Society of Military Psychology.
In 2015 Dr. Wiskoff proposed Division 19 become an Associate Member to the IMTA, and after acceptance that year he became the Division 19 representative to the IMTA and continues in this capacity. Since 1973 he has been a member of the IMTA Steering Committee. He has been the recipient of the highest awards from both of these organizations. These are based on his many career achievements to include being the founding editor and guiding the development of the Military Psychology Journal from 1986 to 2002, assisting in the establishment of the Defense Personnel Security Center, the development of the early computerized CAT-ASVAB, and the Espionage Database. Additionally he has developed and guided research for the US Naval Academy screening, Navy Recruit Classification and screening for Marine Corp Embassy guards. Over these decades he has forged strong relationships to expand the knowledge of military psychology internationally.
For his leadership, service, and advocacy for military psychology, as well as his tireless efforts to advance research, mentor psychologist, and expand international relationships to enhance the well-being of military members, I, Stephen V. Bowles, take great pleasure in presenting the Society for Military Psychology Presidential Citation to Dr. Marty Wiskoff.
