Hi,
Welcome! Thank you for your recent application for the Society for Military Psychology, Division 19 of the American Psychological Association.
Please save this welcome letter for future reference, and let us know if your address or email address changes during the year. If you would like to add or update your email address, please email division@apa.org.
Your membership is effective immediately and will be active through December. You may now apply for grants, awards, and other opportunities that Division 19 offers its members. Additionally, you will soon be receiving emails from our division listserv, div19@lists.apa.org, with information and opportunities relevant to military psychology. You can manage your listserv subscriptions at APA’s listserv website, listserve.apa.org
For your convenience, we will automatically send you a renewal notice in the fall.
As a new Division 19 member, you will begin receiving our publications in January. Our journal, Military Psychology, is published in February, April, June, August, October, and December. If you have missed any issues, they will be mailed separately as back issues about the same time as the next forthcoming issue is mailed.
In addition to receiving the print journal, you will have access to the electronic journal for January 1 through December 31. You can access the journal through the APA website, www.apa.org. Click on “log in” and then enter your email and password. Then click on “MyAPA homepage.” (You can use this even if you do not have membership in APA.) You will see your journal listed and can click through. You will have access back to Volume 1 of the journal. Please note that it may take 1-2 weeks after you receive this welcome message for access to be set up. Additionally, if you are joining between August and December, you will not have access to our online journals until the next calendar year and will not see the division and journal listed in myAPA until about January 1.
The newsletter, The Military Psychologist, is published three times per year – Spring, Summer, and Fall. Both hard copies and emails are sent out. You can find back issues of the newsletter online at the Division 19 website at http://www.apadivisions.org/division-19/publications/newsletters/index.aspx
If you have any questions about your membership, please send an e-mail to division@apa.org with a subject line such as “Question about APA Division 19.”
I am confident that you will find your professional home in Division 19, and I warmly invite you to begin to get to know us by visiting the division’s own website at www.militarypsych.org. Be sure to join our Facebook group APA Division 19 – Military Psychology and follow us on Twitter (@APADiv19). If you obtained your doctorate in the past 10 years, please join our LinkedIn group APA Division 19 Military Psychology Early Career Psychologists and sign up for the ECP listserv on http://lists.apa.org/
Sincerely,
Mark Staal
