DAY 1 - 06 DEC 2023
“Advocacy & Other International Initiatives in Military Psychology”

We begin our morning with a warm welcome from Division 19 and Adler University leadership, as well as our RSS co-chairs! The morning session will cover the Division’s strategic initiatives and goals. A significant highlight of the day is the session focusing on Division 19’s support for Ukraine, addressing the critical role of military psychology in current geopolitical conflicts. The afternoon is dedicated to honoring the legacy of Shannon Kent, exploring the complexities of prescriptive authority, and discussing the mental health challenges faced during the Afghanistan withdrawal. The day concludes with a thought-provoking discussion on moral injury, tyranny, and wars from an Adlerian psychological perspective, offering deep insights into the moral and ethical dilemmas faced in conflict zones.
DAY 2 - 07 DEC 2023
“DoD & Civilian Careers & Research”

A major focus of the day is career opportunities within this field, providing valuable insights for professionals seeking to navigate their career paths in military psychology. The day also features a unique panel of Ukrainian Adlerian psychologists, offering a global perspective on the application of psychology in conflict situations. Research advancements in PTSD from Denver University will be showcased, highlighting cutting-edge developments in treating this critical issue. Attendees will also explore the therapeutic potential of art therapy with combat and Military Sexual Trauma (MST) veterans. The day wraps up with an engaging session on mindfulness and performance, demonstrating practical applications for enhancing mental resilience in high-stress environments.
DAY 3 - 08 DEC 2023
“Innovation to Treating Diverse Populations”
9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (CST)
The morning kicks off with an intensive workshop on art therapy, inviting participants to delve into creative therapeutic techniques. Midday, we take a moment to pause and connect during the break. In the afternoon, the Society Leadership Program (SLP) session will illuminate the pathway to leadership within the Society for Military Psychology, highlighting the importance of networking, mentorship, and developing leadership projects.

A few details about CEs available for this year’s RSS:
- Attendance is required for the entire length of the presentation you are requesting CEs for. Attendance will be monitored by our team throughout each day, so make sure your display name is your full name!
- You must complete the post-presentation survey for CE credits for each presentation. Plus, it always helps getting authentic feedback to make next year’s RSS awesome!
- Emails about final steps to get your CEs will be sent out after the conclusion of the RSS.
