Oct 25-28, 2021

On behalf of the IMTA’s Management Board and the Society for Military Psychology’s Executive Committee, you are invited to attend and participate in a special joint meeting of the IMTA conference and the International Applied Psychology Symposium (IAMPS) in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, from October 25th-29th, 2021. The main conference is October 26-28 with workshops, business meetings, and the opening reception on October 25 and optional excursions on October 29.

This is the 62nd IMTA meeting and marks its first return to the United States since 2003. We encourage you to share your research and best practices with the international military research and practice community. The call for proposals can be found here. The official invitation letter can be found here. We have an amazing conference planned and hope to see you in Raleigh in October. The IMTA and IAMPS joint meeting offers an unique opportunity to share, learn, collaborate, and network with your peers in the military community.

As a special offering, Tom Britt, editor of Military Psychology (journal), will be conducting paper development workshops. For more details, see the workshop overview. The main conference is Tuesday (October 26) through Thursday (October 27) with all-attendee sessions and theme tracks. Division 19 is sponsoring the International Beer Tasting Association (IBTA) social event on Tuesday evening. RTI and NC COMP (NC Center for Optimizing Military Performance) is sponsoring a luncheon. There is a banquet and social event on Thursday Night. On Friday (October), there is a very special optional trip to the Airborne and Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville, NC. When making your travel plans and hotel reservations, please account for Monday and Friday activities if you plan to participate in them. Other events and optional excursion will be added as finalized.  We will be announcing keynote speakers and panels as they are confirmed. If you have an interest in being considered for a keynote, please contact the conference committee.

Submission, registration, and payment forms are live. IMTA is interested in submissions from researchers and practitioners on a wide variety of topics (see call for proposals). Submissions can be papers, symposia (multiple papers on the same topic), panels, or posters. Submissions require 250-word abstract for papers and posters, an overall abstract plus an abstract per paper for symposia, and an abstract plus a 250-word bio for each panelist for panels. Decision turnaround will be quick. Early decision deadline is approaching quickly, August 20. Regular decision deadline is September 20.  We are still looking for some keynotes as well if you have ideas. We will be announcing keynotes as confirmed via social media and the website to build excitement.

IMTA will hold the conference in person with strict adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols. The conference planning committee is working with hotel, local, and state officials to ensure a safe conference. We will follow the guidelines mandated by the State of North Carolina for indoor events at the time of IMTA. By registering for the conference, participants agree to follow the applicable COVID safety protocols in effect at the time. The IMTA Management Board believes the vaccine will allow for a sound in-person conference experience. Our primary goal is to provide a safe venue in which attendees can present their work, network, and discuss research and practice.

Finally, Special thanks to our platinum sponsors Division 19, RTI, and NC COMP and to our bronze sponsor ICF. Sponsorship opportunities are still available: http://www.imta.info/Conference/Sponsors.aspx.
